Design for Niblings

Niblings: (n) A combination of nephews and nieces.

This past spring, I designed bunny stuffed animals for my niece and two nephews, one of which was a newborn. These bunnies were customized for each kid's personality, including their name on the back of the bunny and a different produce in each one's pocket.

Front and back printed photo transfers that include the cutout pattern for easier assembly when sewing.

To create these stuffed animals, the designs were illustrated on Adobe Illustrator. To make the process easier later on, cutout patterns were added to the drawings. These designs were then printed onto photo transfer paper for fabric. The transfers were ironed onto a light white fabric and then cut out and assembled. Before sewing the bunnies, magnets were sewn into the hands of the bunnies. Just like the sweet cousins, the bunnies could hold hands. Adding the magnets also gives the opportunity to create future add-ons, such as gardening tools.

Design for the fabric transfer. The designs were printed backwards to be correct when transferred.

Nothing motivates me more than being an aunt. This is what inspired me to become a product designer, to design for children and their future. It brings me so much joy to bring these designs to life and even more joy to see the smiles on my niece and nephews' faces.
